Questions families
actually ask us.

Answered honestly — including the questions where the honest answer is "we can't do that." We believe you deserve the truth before you spend a dollar.

Before You Start

No. Vera Legacy never needs or asks for login credentials — ever. Our service is specifically designed to work without them. We guide you to search the deceased's own email inbox using 8 specific search terms that surface account confirmation emails, subscription receipts, and registration records. You do the searching on their device. We process what you find and prepare all documentation. You remain in full control at all times.

We never ask for passwords. If any service claims to need your loved one's passwords to help you — that is a red flag.

Bank and credit card statements from the last 90 days identify every paid subscription and recurring charge. We research each merchant, find their exact bereavement cancellation policy, and prepare every cancellation document. For free accounts like Facebook, Gmail, or social media — these require at least some form of email access and cannot be identified from statements alone. We are honest about this limitation upfront.

With statements only: 100% of paid accounts covered. Free accounts: out of scope. This is clearly stated in our Essential package description.

A phone is often enough. Most people stay permanently logged into Gmail, Apple Mail, or Outlook on their phones without needing to enter a password. If the email app is open and accessible on their phone, you can run our 8 inbox search terms directly from it. You screenshot or note what you find, send it to us, and we prepare everything from there.

You don't need everything before starting — we tell you what to gather as part of our service. The most useful documents are a certified death certificate (get at least 10 certified copies from the county), Letters Testamentary if you've been appointed executor, and the last 90 days of bank and credit card statements. Government-issued ID (yours) is required by most platforms when submitting requests.

Legal & Authority

Yes. Vera Legacy prepares documents and provides research guidance — we do not access any accounts on your behalf. All submissions are made by you as the authorized executor or next of kin using your own identity and credentials. This is legally identical to hiring a paralegal or document preparation service to assist with estate paperwork. We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice.

In Florida and most US states, the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act (RUFADAA) gives appointed executors legal authority to request access to digital assets. We help you exercise that authority correctly.

Most platforms accept one of two things: a certified death certificate plus a signed statement of your relationship, or formal Letters Testamentary issued by the probate court. Some platforms require both. We tell you exactly which documents each specific platform requires and provide template authorization letters personalized for each one. You don't need to research this yourself.

Next of kin can still request account closure on most platforms without formal executor appointment. The required documentation varies — some platforms accept a death certificate and a signed next-of-kin statement, others require Letters Testamentary. We map this out for every account in your package so you know exactly what applies to your situation.

Vera Legacy serves families across all 50 US states and territories. We are headquartered in Florida but our service is entirely digital — platform bereavement procedures are consistent nationwide. Google, Facebook, Netflix, and other platforms apply the same process regardless of the state. The only state-specific element is executor authority documentation, which varies slightly by state. We account for this in every package we deliver.

What We Can & Cannot Do

With email inbox access: approximately 85–90% of all accounts ever created, including free platforms like social media and email accounts. With bank statements only: 100% of paid subscriptions and recurring charges. In both cases we prepare every document, letter, and cancellation request. What we cannot find: accounts the family has no knowledge of that left no email or financial trace. Nobody can find those — not us, not any service.

For known crypto wallets and investment accounts, our Concierge package provides documented recovery procedures, platform-specific executor processes for brokerages like Fidelity, Schwab, and Robinhood, and all required documentation. We cannot recover cryptocurrency wallets with no known seed phrase or private key — this is a hard technical reality that no service anywhere can change. If the seed phrase is lost, the crypto is inaccessible to everyone.

This is why the Digital Vault exists — to store seed phrases and credentials securely before they're ever needed.

Yes — in many cases. Some platforms offer pro-rated refunds when an account is cancelled via their bereavement process. We identify refund eligibility for every account in your package and include specific refund request language in the cancellation letters. Netflix, Adobe, Amazon, Apple, and many others have documented refund processes for estate cancellations.

You have options — and we prepare the documentation for whichever you choose. Facebook and Instagram support memorialization, which keeps the profile visible as a tribute but prevents anyone from logging in or making changes. Most platforms also allow complete removal with a death certificate. Twitter/X, LinkedIn, and TikTok each have their own bereavement removal processes. We tell you exactly what's available for each platform and prepare the request.

Pricing, Process & Guarantee

Immediately after payment you receive a confirmation email with a link to our secure intake form. The form takes 8–12 minutes and asks what you have access to — email, statements, or both. No passwords. No sensitive credentials. Once we receive your completed intake, we prepare your complete documentation package and deliver it to your email within 48 hours. You review everything, sign where needed, and submit. Most families are done within 3–5 days of receiving their package.

Essential ($147) — if you only have bank statements and no email access. Guided ($297) — if you have access to their phone or computer with email open, recommended for most families. Concierge ($497) — if the estate includes crypto, investment accounts, or you want 60-day follow-up monitoring. If you're unsure, the Guided package covers the most common scenario and is our most chosen option.

We offer a 48-hour satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your documentation package for any reason, contact us at hello@veralegacy.com within 48 hours of delivery and we will issue a full refund — no questions asked. We also offer free revisions if any document needs adjustment based on platform feedback. We would rather refund you than have a grieving family feel let down.
